How to Make a Paper Portrait!

Making paper portraits is easy! Though I describe it as easy, it is very tedious and time consuming, therefore, if you don’t want to make one yourself, visit my shop and buy one instead. If you’d like to make one yourself, this blog post will walk you through my process.

Let’s get started!

As you continue making the clothes for every person in your portrait, keep in mind the size and use your starting piece as a reference when making clothes.

MAKE A BACKGROUND!!

This is where you get to be super creative. Sometimes, I use paper to make the backdrop as well, and other times, I’ll leave a blank backdrop. On this instance, I wanted to use my watercolor paints!

I went ahead and painted some bushes and a brick wall, since that’s the background that was on the picture I was given. I took the liberty of making a watercolor and sharpie banner to insert the family’s last name.

This is what the paper portrait looks like once it’s all completed.

Add a nice frame and give it as a gift!
